How refreshing this must have been to Paul and his friend to find a Jewish community who were willing to listen and test his message fairly by the Old Testament Scriptures! For it was these Scriptures that formed the foundation of what Paul had to teach them (Acts 18:28; 28:23). (Acts 17:10,11). [Contents (by 'sub-headings-only'.).]. {Acts 17:10-11.}. [summary-ebs0, 13Aug'14.]. ""But those at Berea were a startling exception: 'And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so' (Acts 17: 10,11).CH Welch | 2011 | 4 | £0.05 | 1 |

Salvation is by faith, but if it be necessary to be made 'wise' unto salvation [2Tim 3:15], faith must include understanding. Faith cannot be mere credulity; can be no mere leap in the dark; cannot be antagonistic to the true exercise of reason. The man who is made 'wise' believes! [Contents (by 'headings-only'.).]. {TBA}. [summary-ebs0, 13Aug'14.]. 'The Holy Scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus' (2 Timothy 3:15). " Salvation is by faith, but if it be necessary to be made 'wise' unto salvation, faith must include understanding. Faith cannot be mere credulity; can be no mere leap in the dark; cannot be antagonistic to the true exercise of reason. The man who is made 'wise' believes! If, moreover, salvation is so connected with this Godgiven wisdom, it suggests that there may be elements of deadly folly in the mind of all those who believe not the glad news of a free salvation. .".CH Welch | 2011 | 4 | £0.05 | 1 |

It is not possible to over emphasize the importance of prayer, if we accept what the Word of God teaches on this subject. We state a true fact when we say that all the great men of God in the Scriptures and since have been men of prayer. A prayerless* life is an unfruitful life. Yet all believers at times have felt the poverty of their prayer life. This was true even of the apostles, for, realizing their inadequacy, they asked the Lord Jesus to teach them to pray (Luke 11: 1), [Contents 'tba'.]. {TBA}. [summary-ebs0, 13Aug'14.]. " and we remember that the Son of God frequently withdrew to a quiet place to commune with the Father. If He felt the need of prayer, what about ourselves? The apostle Paul stated, 'we know not what we should pray for as we ought' (Rom. 8:26), yet from the Scriptures it is evident that his life was soaked in prayer. Can it be that our poor prayers ever give God delight? The answer is 'Yes'. The Psalmist connects his praying with the symbolism of incense, which in the Old Testament was specially fragrant.CH Welch | 2011 | 8 | £0.20 | 1 |

We rejoice to be able out of a full heart to say that we believe 'All Scripture is God-breathed'. We believe that not only is Scripture inspired in its general outline, but that divine inspiration extends to the very language and choice of individual words and phrases. .".AJ Harrop | 2011 | 6 | £Download | 1 |

{TBA}. [summary-ebs0, 13Aug'14.]. " Such was the unhappy condition of God's ancient people. Some of them no doubt - possibly many - were wistfully looking forward to the fulfilment of the prophecies which they had read so often. When would it be true: 'Unto us a Child is born, a Son is given, and the government shall be upon His shoulder'? When would they be able to throw open wide the gate and sing 'Who is this King of Glory? The LORD of Hosts He is the King of Glory'. Eventually something did happen. Does God Accept Usefulness in Christian Service at the Expense of Faithfulness? -:- How shall I attempt to write where the subject is so intimately connected with the private conscience of a believer? I so strongly believe in individual responsibility, the Berean spirit in life as well as in doctrine, that I have never usurped the prerogative of the Lord, nor dared to anticipate the verdict of the Judgment Seat of Christ.
